This certified organic plain flour is made by Wholegrain Milling Co. in Gunnedah, NSW, using their traditional roller milling process. Milled from certified organic Australian wheat, this flour is triple-sifted to remove the husk and produce a very fine, soft flour—perfect for general baking.

Often referred to as a “cake flour”, this plain flour has a lower protein content (~9.3%) compared to bakers flours, which makes it ideal for lighter, more tender bakes such as cakes, muffins, biscuits, and pastry. It delivers a fine crumb and soft texture without the chewiness that high-protein flours provide.

This flour is unbleached, free from artificial additives, and grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. It’s suited to both home bakers and commercial kitchens seeking reliable, clean, Australian-grown organic flour.

Why we love it:

  • Soft, fine flour perfect for cakes and biscuits

  • Milled from certified organic Australian wheat

  • Triple-sifted for lightness and consistency

  • Roller milled for uniform texture and colour

  • Grown and milled in NSW by Wholegrain Milling Co.

FAQs

Is this the same as cake flour?

Yes. In Australia, plain flour with a lower protein content is often used the same way as cake flour—ideal for light, soft bakes.

Is it organic?

Yes. This flour is certified organic and made without the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or GMOs.

What should I use it for?

It’s perfect for baking cakes, muffins, biscuits, scones, pancakes, and any recipe where a tender, soft crumb is desirable.

Can I use this for bread?

While it can be used in bread, we recommend using a bakers flour (such as our Organic White Baker’s Flour) for doughs that require strong gluten development. If you need to use this one, just drop your water content as it isn't as strong as a bakers flour. You can read a little bit more about flour in this blog post

How should I store it?

Store in a cool, dry place. For extended shelf life, and reducing issues with pantry pests, refrigeration or freezing is recommended. For more information regarding pest management, check out our blog post, here
