Lightly roasted to golden perfection, these almonds are grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides by the Casaretto family of Casarosa Almonds in South Australia’s Riverland. Once harvested, the nuts are carefully sorted, shelled, and dry-roasted on-site — with no added oils, preservatives, or flavourings — allowing the naturally rich, nutty sweetness of the almond to shine.

About the Grower

Casarosa Almonds is a family-owned orchard and processing operation in Taylorville, SA — just north of Waikerie in the Riverland. Third-generation farmer Jarrad Casaretto manages the farm alongside his parents, using regenerative practices to grow high-quality almonds in one of Australia’s oldest almond-growing regions.

Their farming approach is low-input, bee-friendly, and proudly pesticide-free, focusing on soil health, biodiversity and sustainability. All processing — from cracking and roasting to retail packing — is handled on-site, giving them complete control over freshness and quality.

Culinary Uses

Roasted almonds are a classic pantry staple — versatile, satisfying, and endlessly snackable. Try them:

  • On their own or with dried fruit as a trail mix

  • Chopped over yoghurt, porridge, or green salads

  • Blitzed into homemade almond butter

  • Baked into granola, muffins, or energy balls

  • Ground into almond meal for gluten-free baking

Through out the year we will have different varieties of almond depending on what Jarrad and his team have available. At the moment, we have Nonpareil almonds, which are Australia's most popular almonds, prized for their superior appearance and taste. These almonds have a relatively flat shape and a light coloured smooth skin, with a mild almond flavour and a distinctive sweet finish. They are a late season harvest but tend to fly out the door the quickest.

Other times of the year, we will have:

Nonpareil almonds, which are Australia's most popular almonds, prized for their superior appearance and taste. These almonds have a relatively flat shape and a light coloured smooth skin, with a mild almond flavour and a distinctive sweet finish. They are a late season harvest but tend to fly out the door the quickest.

Carmel Almonds, which are an early season variety. Very popular variety Carmel are slightly smaller and rounder and nonpareil, with a softer skin and a more intense almond flavour.

Carina almonds, which are a mid-sized almond with a sweet & buttery taste. Carina are a high yielding variety, which are also used as an early season pollinator for Nonpareil.

Price almonds, which are a smaller almond with a sweet & buttery taste, great as a snack and as an ingredient. Originally from California, the Price variety is used to cross-pollinate with the Nonpareil almond trees.

Monterey almonds, which are a smooth soft shell variety with large, flat, sweet and meaty kernels. Making them a popular choice for both eating and baking.

Independent almonds, which are a relatively new variety on the scene. Developed in 2008, the independent variety of almond is a self pollinating variety, which is rare in almonds. Traditionally, almonds require cross pollination in order to ensure profitable harvests. In other words, pollen from one variety needs to move to the flower of another variety in order for the flower to be fertilized and set a nut. This is why we have multiple varieties of differing pollen groups planted within almond orchards. Independent Almonds tend to be on the smaller side, with a higher oil content.

Storage Tips

Keep in an airtight jar or container in a cool, dark place. For optimal freshness, especially in warmer climates, refrigerate or freeze.
