A soft, fluffy staple with real depth of flavour — our white rice is grown in Australia under certified biodynamic methods and supplied by Biodynamic Marketing, a pioneer in organic wholesaling since 1982. With its creamy texture and neutral flavour, this medium-grain rice is an ideal base for both savoury and sweet dishes — and a more nutrient-dense alternative to highly polished imports.
About the Supplier
Biodynamic Marketing is a trusted name in Australian organics, working with certified biodynamic growers to bring clean, ethical produce to market. While they’re not a farm themselves, they’ve long acted as a bridge between Australia’s regenerative growers and people who care about how their food is grown. All rice supplied under their label is grown and milled in Australia, without synthetic chemicals, glyphosate, or artificial inputs by biodynamic farmers; in the case of this rice from the Barham region of NSW.
What is White Rice?
White rice is the milled version of wholegrain brown rice. The outer bran and germ layers are gently removed to create a lighter, faster-cooking grain with a mild flavour and soft bite. While this process reduces the fibre and some nutrients, it also makes the rice easier to digest — and perfect for people who prefer a fluffier texture in their cooking.
This medium-grain white rice sits halfway between the firmness of long-grain and the stickiness of short-grain, making it extremely versatile across cuisines, with its use case changing depending on how much you rinse it. Want sticky rice for risotto or sushi? Don't bother rinsing it. Want fluffy rice for a side dish? Rinse it a lot, with 4 or 5 times not being excessive.

FAQs
Is this rice organic?
Yes. Even better, it is certified biodynamic by Demeter, the strictest biodynamic certification in the world. It exceeds standard organic requirements, focusing on soil health, farm biodiversity, and natural rhythms.
What is biodynamic farming?
We go into that a little more here, but basically biodynamic farmers use unique soil, plant and compost preparations that, when practiced successfully, create a humus-rich, well-structured soil ideal for the growth of healthy vibrant plants.
What’s the difference between brown rice and white rice?
Brown rice retains the bran and germ, making it chewier and higher in fibre. White rice has these outer layers removed, which makes it softer, quicker to cook, and easier to digest.
Is this rice grown in Australia?
Yes, as with all food products sold by Sovereign Foods. This biodynamic white rice is grown in the Barham region of NSW (about 150km north of Bendigo)
Is it suitable for gluten-free diets?
While the rice is naturally gluten free, this product is packed in a facility that handles only products that contain Gluten
Can I use this rice for sushi or risotto?
You sure can. While it is slightly larger grain than a traditional sushi rice, if you forgo rinsing, it will stick together beautifully and make fantastic sushi rolls or onigiri

All you need to do is pop off the label before you put it in your compost (We are looking for a cost-effective compostable solution to our labels). These bags are a good short term but are not completely airtight. When you get your goodies home, be sure to pop your products into a jar and store them in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. You can reuse these bags around the house as a short-term solution to keep things dry and reduce air contact.
