  • Ideal for snacking, stewing, baking, and blending

What Are Prunes?

Prunes are dried plums, and in Australia, they’re most commonly made from the D’Agen plum variety, prized for its rich sugar content, soft flesh, and suitability for drying whole with the seed intact. The transformation from fresh plum to prune involves harvesting the fruit at full ripeness, washing and grading, and then slow air-drying until the perfect texture is achieved, and then steamed and rehydrated to ensure a perfect snack.

Our prunes are free of preservatives and are naturally dark, slightly sticky, and deeply flavoured; as they should be.

Culinary Uses

  • Snack as-is,

  • Chop into muesli, porridge, yoghurt or overnight oats

  • Simmer with water, citrus zest, and spices to make compote

  • Blend into smoothies or energy balls

  • Add to tagines, stews, or baked goods for sweetness and depth

Why We Love Them

These prunes are a far cry from the overly processed versions common on supermarket shelves. They’re grown organically in Australia, dried without preservatives, and packed with nutrients: including dietary fibre and natural sorbitol, both of which support healthy digestion. Their natural sweetness makes them an easy way to add depth and richness to both sweet and savoury recipes.

Ingredients: 100% Australian organic prunes (dried plums).

No added preservatives or sugar.

FAQs

Are these prunes sulphur-free?

Yes. These organic prunes are completely free from sulphites or any chemical preservatives. Their deep colour is a result of natural drying, not processing.

Do prunes help with digestion?

Prunes are rich in fibre and contain natural sorbitol, which has a mild laxative effect. They’re a popular natural aid for digestive health.

How should I store them?

Store in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. For extended freshness, especially in warmer climates, we recommend refrigerating after opening.

Can I rehydrate them?

No need, these plums have already been cooked and rehydrated

Are prunes the same as dried plums?

Yes. “Prune” is simply the name for a dried plum. In Australia, they’re typically made from specific plum varieties like D’Agen, selected for their drying properties.
