This cold pressed organic pecan oil is made on the Huston family farm in Junction View, Queensland, from small pecan pieces that naturally fall below the 6 mm screen the Hustons use for the pieces. The pecans are pressed to extract the oil, then filtered through a 3 micron screen for clarity. The result is a clear, aromatic finishing oil with a rich nutty flavour. It takes approximately 1 kg of pecans produces about 600ml of oil.

What makes pecan oil so special
Pecan oil is high in monounsaturated fats, similar to extra virgin olive oil, but with a more delicate flavour and a cleaner finish. Because the pecans are grown, cracked, dried, sorted, pressed and filtered on farm, the time between harvest and oil production is short. This protects the integrity of the natural oils and preserves that buttery, aromatic quality; reducing the chance of "off notes" in the oil.

FAQ
Is this oil Australian grown?
Yes. 100 percent Australian pecans, grown and processed on the Huston family farm.
Is it raw?
Yes. This oil is cold pressed.
Can I fry with it?
Pecan oil has a decent smoke point of around 200ºC. But not great for high heat frying. This oil is best used as a finishing oil or for low to medium heat applications.
Why is pecan oil so expensive?
Because it takes a large quantity of premium pecans to make a small amount of oil, and fresh nuts are not cheap. This is a premium culinary oil.
