Grown, picked and processed by the Casaretto family on their family farm in Taylorville South Australia, Casarosa Almonds produce the freshest almonds in Australia.
We will see a few varieties through the year depending on what Jared and team have available.
At the moment, we have Nonpareil almonds, which are Australia's most popular almonds, prized for their superior appearance and taste. These almonds have a relatively flat shape and a light coloured smooth skin, with a mild almond flavour and a distinctive sweet finish. They are a late season harvest but tend to fly out the door the quickest.
Other times of the year, we will have:
Carmel Almonds, which are an early season variety. Very popular variety Carmel are slightly smaller and rounder and nonpareil, with a softer skin and a more intense almond flavour.
Price almonds, which are a smaller almond with a sweet & buttery taste, great as a snack and as an ingredient. Originally from California, the Price variety is used to cross-pollinate with the Nonpareil almond trees.
Monterey almonds, which are a smooth soft shell variety with large, flat, sweet and meaty kernels. Making them a popular choice for both eating and baking.
Independent almonds, which are a relatively new variety on the scene. Developed in 2008, the independent variety of almond is a self pollinating variety, which is rare in almonds. Traditionally, almonds require cross pollination in order to ensure profitable harvests. In other words, pollen from one variety needs to move to the flower of another variety in order for the flower to be fertilized and set a nut. This is why we have multiple varieties of differing pollen groups planted within almond orchards. Independent Almonds tend to be on the smaller side, with a higher oil content.
About the Grower
All our almonds are sourced direct from Casarosa Almonds, a family-run orchard in South Australia’s Riverland region. Led by Jarrad Casaretto, the Casarosa team grows and harvests their almonds without the use of synthetic pesticides, fumigants, or glyphosate. Their commitment to soil health, biodiversity, and minimal intervention results in almonds with exceptional flavour, purity, and nutritional value. They also pack all their almonds on-site to maintain peak freshness.

Why We Love Them
There’s a lot of almonds on the market, but few are grown with as much care as these. Not only are they Australian-grown and pesticide-free, but they’re also freshly packed, not stored in bulk or irradiated like many supermarket imports. Their smooth skin and sweet flavour make them incredibly versatile — and a pantry essential.
Storage Advice
Store almonds in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. For maximum freshness, refrigerate after opening. Consume within 6 months of opening or store frozen for longer shelf life.
FAQs
Are these almonds certified organic?
No, but they are grown under strict chemical-free, glyphosate-free practices that exceed many conventional standards. Casarosa Almonds prioritises soil health, water conservation and biodiversity in all their management.
Do these almonds contain the shell?
No – these are shelled almonds with skin intact (not blanched). They’re raw, unroasted, and unsalted.
Can I roast these almonds at home?
Yes – simply spread on a tray and roast at 150°C for 10–15 minutes until fragrant. You can season them as you like (salt, chilli, maple, etc.).
What is the difference between Nonpareil and other almond varieties?
Nonpareil almonds are known for their thin, smooth skin, light colour, and mild flavour. They’re often used in premium snacks and nut butters. Other varieties like Carmel or Monterey may have thicker skins, darker colour, or more robust flavour — and may appear later in the season depending on harvest.
