These organic currants are grown by Helen and Peter Kamvissis at All Australian Organics in the Sunraysia region of north-west Victoria. Naturally dried and minimally processed, they are suited to baking, fruit blends and cooking.

About currants

Currants are a small dried grape traditionally used in baking and cooking. Unlike fresh currants, dried currants are made from specific small grape varieties grown for drying. Their smaller size and concentrated sweetness make them particularly suited to fruit loaves, cakes and biscuit baking.

These currants are produced in a more traditional natural style, resulting in a fruit that is less soft and uniform than many commercially processed dried fruits. No oils are added during processing, allowing the fruit to retain more of the character typical of naturally dried vine fruit.

About the grower

These currants are grown by Helen and Peter Kamvissis at All Australian Organics in the Sunraysia region near Mildura. The family has been growing grapes in the region for decades, producing dried fruit, table grapes and wine varieties under certified organic farming systems.

The hot, dry climate of Sunraysia has long made the region suitable for vine fruit production and drying. All Australian Organics focuses on Australian-grown organic sultanas and currants, maintaining a direct link between vineyard and finished product.
