This organic mung dahl is grown by Kym and Neil Sullivan at Linthorpe in southern Queensland. Made by splitting and dehulling whole mung beans, it cooks quickly and is suited to soups, curries and everyday meals.

About mung dahl

Mung dahl is produced by removing the outer skin from whole mung beans and splitting the bean into two halves. This reduces cooking time and creates a softer texture than whole mung beans, making it a popular ingredient in Indian and South Asian cooking.

Unlike whole mung beans, mung dahl only requires a good rinse before cooking rather than soaking, making it ideal for a quick meal. It breaks down readily when simmered, making it well suited to dals, soups, curries and purees while still retaining the mild flavour of the original bean.

About the grower

This mung dahl is grown by Kym and Neil Sullivan at Linthorpe on Queensland’s Darling Downs. The family grows a range of certified organic crops, including sorghum, mung beans, linseed and fenugreek.

Alongside growing their crops, Kym and Neil process selected products on farm, allowing them to maintain a clear connection between production and the finished food. Their focus on Australian-grown organic grains and legumes aligns closely with our commitment to supporting local growers.
