This is the whole sunflower seed, rather than the kernel, which is the meaty part of the seed. Sunflower seeds are great for roasting whole, seasoning and eaten by cracking the shell with your teeth, discarding the hull and eating the delicious morsel within.

The extra benefit of buying it as a seed is to make delicious sunflower sprouts. To do this you just need to cover in organic soil mix, and water every now and then. In about 12 days they will be ready to harvest (depending on the ambient temperature). You just seperate the seed and eat the delicious greens. It takes about 15g (2 tablespoons) to cover a 60cmtray.

These seeds come courtesy of Four Leaf Milling in Tarlee, South Australia

Product repacked by Sovereign Foods in compostable bags.

Our Bags are made from brown recycled paper and have a 100% natural corn-based compostable biofilm. All you need to do is pop off the label before you put it in your compost (We are looking for a cost-effective compostable solution to our labels). These bags are a good short term but are not completely airtight. When you get your goodies home, be sure to pop your products into a jar and store them in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. You can reuse these bags around the house as a short-term solution to keep things dry and reduce air contact.

Excellent product

Brilliant product - was a gift and so well received, can’t wait for further purchases

You definitely can eat them. We have the instructions on sprouting on the back as that is how they are most commonly eaten in Australia.
