This is the whole sunflower seed, rather than the kernel, which is the meaty part of the seed. Sunflower seeds are great for roasting whole, seasoning and eaten by cracking the shell with your teeth, discarding the hull and eating the delicious morsel within.
The extra benefit of buying it as a seed is to make delicious sunflower sprouts. To do this you just need to cover in organic soil mix, and water every now and then. In about 12 days they will be ready to harvest (depending on the ambient temperature). You just seperate the seed and eat the delicious greens. It takes about 15g (2 tablespoons) to cover a 60cm2 tray.
